Who is eligible to play for the Skyhawks?
In 2020 we will only be fielding a Junior Varsity and Varsity team. Junior birthdates are 2004 & 2005 and Varsity 2001, 2002, 2003. While most of our players are coming from the Quinte area, anyone can tryout for Skyhawks.
How do I register?
You will find the link on our registration page. Once this is completed then go to our fillable registration form, once completed please file by hitting submit and then follow the remaining steps. To complete the registration your tryout fee must be paid for.
Who are the coaches?
All of our coaches will be interviewed and approved. All our coaches are members of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and have experience coaching at the next level and/or strong connection to the local high school football system.
When are tryouts?
Saturday March 21 & Sunday March 22
Saturday March 28 & Sunday March 29

How much does it cost to register?
Tryouts fees $100
Season fees $550
Deposit of $500 by chq will be required for use of equipment. Chq will be torn up at end of season when equipment is returned.
What Equipment do I need to purchase?
Skyhawks football club will provide your helmet and shoulder pads and knee pads. Every player is required to purchase there own 5 pad girdle at a cost of roughly $40. Practice jerseys, pants, pads, shoulder pads and helmets are supplied for all players.
Parents will be given the option to buy there own equipment if they so choose too from our area rep.
What is the Rep Package?
This package includes home and away jerseys, socks, travel bag and polo shirt. This package is required for all new varsity football players at a cost of $250.00. This will need to be paid by the first week of May. You do not need to pay this each unless at some point you would need a replacement of one of the said items.
Why are registration fees expensive?
While registration costs may be considered expensive for some families, the Skyhawks organization is committed to keeping the cost of playing football affordable and providing great value for the money. Players receive full equipment and uniforms, travel by coach buses to and from away games and play an 8-12 games schedule over the summer.
Player fees account for approximately 70% of the per-player cost to run our program. The rest must be made up through fundraising and sponsorship.
Is financial assistance available?
If you let us know early enough and are willing to stick to a plan, we can work with you through our many resources to assist you in paying your fees. We are experienced in working with families and players to break down obstacles to achieve a player’s highest potential. This is the cornerstone of our mission statement. You want to play? What is the Ontario Football Conference?
The Ontario Football Conference (OFC) runs in two separate divisions: “Varsity” for ages 11 to 19, and “Junior” for ages 17 to 24.
In 2008, the OFC decided to launch a brand new varsity division (ages 17 to 19), and eventually expanded in 2009 to include pee wee (11-12), bantam (13-14), and junior varsity (15-16) for a total 16 teams, and once again in 2010, expanding to a total of 36 teams across four separate age groups.
Currently, there are over 60 teams that compete in the OFC “Varsity Division” (ages 11 to 19), making the OFC the fastest growing amateur football league in all of Ontario (and Canada).
With the exception of the pee wee division, the entire league plays an exclusive and exciting brand of three down Canadian-style football, helping to prepare our young Canadian athletes for Junior OFC football (ages 17 to 24) and/or Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS).
When does the Regular Season start and what teams do we play?
Regular season will start sometime mid-May. We will not know the schedule for the 2020 season until sometime late winter. We will have 4 home games and 4 away games

How long is the Season?
Regular season is usually 8 games, 4 home and 4 away. Away games are scheduled by the opposing team. Games are usually Saturday or Sunday but can be rarely on Friday nights for older teams.
Where do the Skyhawks practice and play?
Once the weather clears from the winter to spring we will be heading outdoors to practice. A sight has not been determined yet but will most likely one of our area high school fields. All home games will be played at Mary Anne Sills Park and away game location will be confirmed closer to the start of the season. A map is always included on the schedule page.
Are we expected to Volunteer with Skyhawks?
Flight Crew – we are so excited about creating a strong family/community based football program. Our game day experience is truly going to be for the whole family. As part of the Skyhawk family we know you will want to be part of our amazing home game day festivities.
Every family involved will be encouraged to be apart of our flight crew. Our volunteers will be the backbone of our football club and will be huge reason for the success of our organization moving forward.
Do we need to fundraise for Skyhawks?
Yes, Our fundraising plan is simple. We are going to be selling Season Ticket Coupon Sheets. On the sheets are tickets to our 4 home games with the added bonus of coupons valuing up to $150 for everyone to enjoy. We are selling these for $25 each. We are asking every Skyhawk family to sell 10 Sheets by the beginning of the season. 100% of the money raised will be going to our capital campaign to purchase football equipment for players.
